Mossy Frames is a group of 3 students from the animation major at the Willem De Kooning Academy in Rotterdam. We come from Italy, Luxembourg as well as Switzerland. But all three of us currently live in Amsterdam, which is why we made "The Tale of the Twin Sisters" about an iconic monument in the middle of the city.

Animation was born out of invention. Since its earliest forms animation evoked a sense of wonder and magic. It was made possible by technological progress during the 19th and early 20th century when illusionists became filmmakers. Technological developments still shape the art form and innovations continue to disrupt and change the ways in which a society functions and communicates in a profound way. AR (augmented reality) is one of the technical advancements we set out to try to discover through this 7 weeks project.

We were asked to create a location–based animated experience in the public space that shows its hidden history and is presented during the Kaboom Festival. This experience gives expression to the sense of invention, wonder and magic that is fundamental to our art form.

The location we decided to work with is more or less the centre between the three neighbourhoods our team members live in. In preproduction we researched into historical events that took place around our neighbourhoods, but eventually got so inspired by the modern day magnet fishing that we decided to include it in our theme.
